Help Wanted: Insect Identification

I've noticed a few of these very colorful insects hanging out on my sunflowers the past week. I'd like to know what they are so I can be on the look out for a pest or welcome a colorful visitor to the plot. Anybody have any idea what they could be and if they are 'good' or 'bad' bugs?

It's a leafhopper - probably sucks plant juices but I can't imagine it will do a lot of damage:

Kate - Thanks so much for the bug identification!
Meems - It really is colorful, and quite pretty. I'm gonna do some research on them and as long as they aren't too harmful to the sunflowers I will most likely let them be.

I love it when people post pictures of their bugs, especially when there's an identification that goes with it. I'm really clueless in the bug department, and it's great to learn about them through these blogs. Thanks for sharing Fred, and for the identification, Kate!

I've seen a number of these same bugs in my garden. I though they were a different variety of grasshopper. I'll do a little research myself. I'm so glad you were able to get it identified.
